Another Studio Challenge

This time, a sketch!

I played around with some paints and gelatos to make circles, which I then cut out.

The Studio Challenges..........Winery

The August Tic Tac Toe challenge at Studio Challenges :

I chose lace doilies, one flair button, and the color brown for this page depicting a recent trip to wine country here in Upstate NY.
I love the combination of wood and lace.

I used some very old Jolie's purple flowers here, which kind of looked like grapes. Also some Creative Memories flower and leaf stickers...again, very old. I stamped an ink pad onto the lace doilies. Thanks for lookin!!

The Stream....June at Use your Stuff

Oh, a challenge to use five or more patterned papers? Challenge accepted! There are so many ways to incorporate patterned papers together. I don't do it often, but when I do, I think it's fun. Here, I mixed five different patterns and they are all from different manufacturers. I simply looked through my stash and chose things that had a soft green or blue tone to them. I am on a mission to use my super-old stuff, and often mix it with the new. Here, everything I used was rather old.

The photo is one of my favorites depicted the Changdeochong Stream in Seoul...I may have spelled that wrong. Getting all the Korean names right has been quite challenging. I have to look it up every time. The stream was a great place.... a nice walking area right down below from the busy streets. I headed down there many times during my eight-day stay.

The Scrap Suite May 2017

There are four May challenges over at the Scrap Suite. One was to add three wooden items to a page, which I did here:

I love how the wood goes so well with the fallish colors and the cozy feel of the page. These are my daughters at our favorite restaurant. My older two are in college now, so we are not all together that often anymore. When we are, we go to this place!

Scrapbook Generation

Another site new to me, and also addicted to!
I participated in the NSD crop there, and played along with many fun games in addition to doing some challenges. The crop goes until May 31, so I may do a few more. Who knows!

A One-page layout. Easy!

A monochromatic layout featuring BLUE

AND a tic-tac-toe utilizing border punches, twine and washi

More to come ....

This site was new for me...and I'm totally impressed with the style, the kits, and the blog. I have been perusing the site for the past few weeks and considering joining a monthly kit subscription....Kinda pricey but possibly worth it.

Anyway, I loved the challenges. Here are some that I did...

Handcut title

playing with mixed media color kits. This is one of my faves, using gelatos, which I enjoy playing with although I am still a bit of a novice. I love the pic too, with all the stuffed animals in the background and the giant Rastafarian Banana doing some photo-bombing. I Cricut-cut some tiny bananas as well.

Using Border Punches. Love border punches!

Travel based page. Beautiful Creative Memories papers and some sequins to add a little something.

Use A Grid- a grid is a great way to showcase close-up photos, like these close-ups of street food.

Design Principles- I used principles of balance and anchoring. Funny, I use principles of design all the time without realizing it. I just do what looks right to me.

Border Punches yet again-  I love playing with the CM border system. So many possibilities!

Use Your Stuff May 2017

The challenge this month....use metallics! My pages tend to be light and bright, so metallics are not something I use much of. My metal stash is quite old and doesn't get a lot of use. I decided to use some new metallic striped paper (behind my main photo) and some VERY old little gold arrow clips that I had never even opened!

I love when I am challenged to use something I don't normally use, still make a page within my style perimeters, and also use up old stash (to make room for more supplies, of course!)

This is one of my fave pics from last summer's trip to Cedar Point Amusement Park. The kids split up from the adults most of the day, but they all decided to ride the train with Gramma at one point, and captured this fun memory.
By the way, my mother was 76 last year when this pic was taken. She walked all over that amusement park without a problem! I was pretty amazed. I hope I look and feel as good as she does when I am that age.

A Cherry On Top

I did two challenges for NSD at A Cherry on Top.  I like how they both turned out.

Build that Wall was for a challenge to use themed paper not what it is intended for. The papers for this page all come from a Fall pack, but I liked the colors and the old-timey feel. This was the only picture I liked from my visit to this little Seoul City Wall Museum. I need to work on indoor photography, especially at museums.

Another challenge was to use cool colors. I have the Creative Memories Border Punch System with several inserts, but I did not have this lacey shell one. I borrowed it from a friend, and loved it so much I ordered it. So pretty...I could use it for so many different things... The background paper is also Creative Memories. They have some really pretty paper packs that are a bit different from what else is out there.

A travel page

I recently went to Seoul, South Korea and am so excited to scrapbook that experience. Here is one page I did for NSD at This was one of my favorite days on my trip, but the page is not one of my favorites! That's okay. I like to play around and try different things. Sometimes, the end product is not what I was going for, but the process was enjoyable nonetheless. The photos are the main focus of most of my pages, and these two photos depict the reward I received after climbing a large mountain for an hour!! Completely worth it all.

Sneakin in some May challenges as well

Scrap Our Stash has some NSD sketches out, but I haven't done any of those yet. Here is the tic tac toe board for their monthly challenge though....

I used a journaling card, made some little clouds, and played with my vellum. I used gold gelato and a brick-like stencil on the vellum for a little background behind the title and journaling area. I like how it looks! Also used my new Creative Memories Button punch, which punches three different sizes and shapes of button. I love it!

Happy NSD!!

Wow, it's been awhile. Here are some pages I did for National Scrapbook Day. I entered these at for various challenges.

This is for a mixed media challenge. I used pastel watercolors and repositional tape for the background, some doilies for a photo matt. My daughter and her two best friends looked so pretty at the 8th grade dance. They've been friends since first grade.

The Embellishment challenge: I used little Korean stickers, leaves, inked popsicle sticks, ribbon and journaling cards on here. I went to South Korea last month and have MANY photos to scrapbook. I am just getting started.

Die Cut Challenge...the font is from Cricut's Carousel cartridge. The banners are from the CM border punch system.

This is for the Show your Style challenge. I love this page...I was inspired by a comic book page and wanted that look for this.
