Rocking Holiday Crop!!

I just love crops...they really force me to get some stuff done! This Rocking Holiday Crop ends today, and I just submitted my three pages on Facebook.
Here they are! I had to use Sketch n Scrap sketches for each challenge..

Had to use green, red and white:

Had to use my favorite manufacturer (hard to choose, I used Cloud 9 pp here) my fave technique(paint!) and my fave punch (Creative Mem. Border system, used for the fencing.)

This was a bingo sketch, using washi, punches and an arrow

November Crop at Paper Issues

I love crops...they really inspire me to get multiple pages done. It is my dream one day to do ALL the challenges in a reality, I get at least three done. Here are some I did for last weekend's Fall crop...

For the "use a big title" challenge, I had some fun with this photo of both my girls in braces. I had always wanted to get a photo of the two of them together with their sparkly smiles, and almost missed my chance! On the morning this was taken, Holly was to go to our final ortho appointment to get the braces removed. I grabbed my camera for a one last shot, just under the wire! Now they are both braces-free for many years, and my youngest daughter is the one with the sparkly smile!!

This challenge was to use just the center of the page and leave nothing on the edges. Pretty simple challenge, really, especially when using one photo! Her is my youngest, Miranda, before her 8th grade dance. Her friend, Tara is in 9th grade, but stopped by to see her friend all dressed up!!

I had some fun this summer following Miranda and her friends around the summer fair here in Oswego. I had just bought a new camera and wanted to play with it. It is asking a lot of tween girls to let a mom follow them around taking pics! The colors of the fair and the chance for action shots are just too much to pass by. Thanks for obliging me, girls!
This challenge was to use white and black with only one other color. I chose green. I played with my green paints a little, and cut out some green stars with the Cricut.

Here, I had to do a page about my favorite drink or food. I commemorated the Pineapple Chicken (served in half a pineapple!) at my fave local Mexican restaraunt. Miranda loves pineapple, and when she heard the restaurant started serving this dish, she was dying to try it!! We celebrated the last day of school here. My picture isn't great, as I was with a teenager embarrassed by her mom photographing food (hey, I was using my phone at least!) but it will do! While I was working on this page, I happened to notice a pineapple magnet on my fridge, so I added that to the page, along with some tropical leaves (from Life's a Beach) and little chicken legs (from Fast Food, one of my favorite Cricut cartridges)

Using triangles for this challenge.... I love triangles! I need to use them more.

Lasting Memories:

This is one of my favorite photos of my oldest daughter, Holly, who is now in college. She just looks so cute playing in the snow!!

This one won for November!!

I emailed Michele from the site. Thanks Lasting Memories!!

Inspired by Old Buttons

Kraft Plus One has a closet challenge going on....the inspiration must come from the closet.
I have a collection of old metal buttons stored in my closet. These have fallen off of clothes over the past several decades, but for some reason, I want to keep them even if the garment is long gone.
I was inspired by the old antiquey look of the buttons. They reminded me of these brads I've had in my stash for a long, long time. I decided to put them to good use.

I find it difficult to scrapbook historic or old-fashioned looking photos, so I kept this pretty simple, Kraft as a background works well. I added some green papers and, of course, my fancy metal brads!!

A Tad Confused but here it is!!

Here is this month's This or That Challenge by Rochelle Spears:

It says Cork or Wood, but in the post directly below, it says Tickets or Tags. I went with the Cork or Wood challenge and made this one using a wood paper background:

I like the wood and the Red White and Blue color scheme. In my attempts to use up very old scrap supplies, I added the sequin heart, which came off one of my daughter's old t-shirts from long ago! I cut it off the shirt like a decade ago and it's been sitting in my stash ever since.
This is an old cemetery in my town with British and American soldiers from various early wars.

Pixels and Paper's pretty picture for the month

Here's the inspiration photo at Pixels and Paper:

I love the colors of the whole picture. I was inspired to do a girly page with a white, pink and gold color scheme.

Here's my page with a very favorite recent pic of my three daughters

Update: This page was featured as a favorite, and ended up winning the random draw!!

Paper Issues for November

I love Paper Issues and all their challenges, plus the fact that I can submit them directly rather than from a blog...BUT I want to put my pages on my blog anyway.
Later on in the month, they are having a crop. Hopefully I can partake at least a little!
I will put all the month's pages in this spot.

The Take 5 challenge:

I chose red, yellow, stripes, more than one photo, and handwritten journaling

This is the day I took Gracie and Josh to the Taste of Syracuse festival on a sunny summer day. We had such a good time!

Being Square at Lasting Memories

Over at Lasting Memories, the challenge is to use squares

I have these cute, adorable, purplish square embellishments that I've been wanting to use but never have. I decided to use them on my Paul McCartney page. My pictures are terrible (as were my seats!) so using vibrant embellishments seemed to be the way to go.
And even though my seats sucked, Paul was awesome!!

I tried to link this challenge, but the link tool says it is expired. I will try later on and see if I can submit this.

Another fine Sketch at the ScrapRoom Blog

This month's ScrapRoom Blog sketch

What a cute sketch! And I was inspired to drink a hot cup of coffee as I worked on it...

Here is my take, a nature-inspired page featuring my daughter and her boyfriend and their impromptu photo shoot using my new camera...

The mood board for Nov. at Berry71Bleu is very blue indeed...

I love the navy and gray. I happen to be working on summer pages right now, and they are all white backgrounds with bright colors. I was inspired to add navy to this summer page for something different. I was also inspired by the chevrons, but used a heart instead.

Archi Scraps for November

This month's inspiration at Archi Scraps:

with the criteria to angle something.

It is out of my comfort zone to angel! I have way to many straight lines on my pages. Here, I slightly angled two photos and I do like the playfulness those lines add to the page. Tfl! Mandy

Update!! I won a guest designing spot for this page! I will be guest staring on Archi Scraps for January, so stay tuned!!

Elle's Studio November Sketch

Here is the sketch for November

I used a newspaper photo of Gracie for this one. I Archival-Misted all of her news articles I had been saving. This is the only one I will officially scrapbook though. It's a pretty good picture as far as sports photos are concerned. Usually they turn out blurry, or the subject is making a funny face. Here, Grace looks pretty good for one who is so physically exerting herself!
She won both her long-distance races that day, and also did well in the relay.
I don't often do smaller sized photos, so I adapted the sketch for one photo. I like the sporty look of it all!!!

White With One August

I am a guest designer at WW1 this month...

The colors were white with magenta-purple and I came up with this...

Thanks to White with One for the honor. It was fun knowing the criteria a month ahead of time.

Presenting CASE 207:

I used all the colors.. two shades of blue, a little brown, white paint and a little light gray in the anchors.
My evidence: diagonal stripes, twine, a postcard, and some nautical elements.
I also journaled on a postcard.

Bonus...I added that Jolee's Boutique bottle of sand, which has been collecting dust in my stash since the girl pictured was a toddler!! I love when I can use my old stuff appropriately.

Country Scene at Artastic

This month at artastic, there's some country going on. Here is the chosen artwork:

And here is my artwork!!

Not only  did I create a barn, I was IN a barn when I did it!! Yep, a local women rented a lovely barn out for the day for us ladies to scrapbook in.
I have only ONE photo of this antiquing venture because my SD card was defective. I still wanted to capture the story, though. I had great fun creating a paper farm scene. I even used some decades-old sticker leftovers, the little duck and mouse and sunflowers.

Sweet butterflies at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge

I am not sure I have ever done a challege at Freaky.
July's simple challenge was to use butterflies...
I played around with my gelatos and stamping to make the diamond lines. ...Here is one of my daughter's senior photos from last year.

Priceless times at 123 Challenge

This month over at 123 Challenge challenges us to use pastel colors, the word PRICELESS, and glitter.

I inheretited a box of items from my cousin's estate recently, including many old photos of my kids. Some of these photos I have never seen, even though my cousin and I were very close. These photos are of my daughters playing dress-up, a favorite activity of theirs when we'd visit.

I played around with paint. It turned out a bit of a mess, but that's what happens when you experiment sometimes! I used pastels, and covered my title with some pink glitter.

I have already made my page...and will post it when it's revealed.

NSD at Turtle Soup

I played at Turtle Soup for National Scrapbook Day....
Everything was due today, and here is what I completed for the event:

The scraps recipe challege called for only scraps (check!), one scrap had to be a weird shape (my suitcase..that's pretty wierd!) a frame (I used one for a journal box) and 2 different alphas in the title (pink and brown stickers).
This is a terrible, blury image. I apologize! I had to make the size smaller to fit on Turtle Soup, which ruins the clarity on some of these.

Here is a very simple page for a Multiphoto challenge. Multiphoto is no challenge for me, it's what I prefer, although it is more challenging to fit many photos on a page sometimes.
I had this paper a very long time, and finally got a chance to use it!
Here is Holly and her marching band, which she joined her senior year.

She's so cute!! I just dropped her off at college today because she's working there all summer. I miss her already!

Next up: a mood board challenge.
When I saw the macaroons, I immediately thought of these adorable macaroon stickers I bought at Michael's. I had no idea what I was gonna use them for, but I had to have them.
This photo of Gracie is seventeen years old! I remember taking the girls (I only had two at the time!) to a photo shoot with live Easter bunnies. The silly girls were too afraid of the little bunnies, so we had to take photos with no cute animals.

I found this next challenge to be a little difficult. You had to use themed paper for something it wasn't intended for. I looked through my themey stuff and found some beach-themed paper. I loved the orange and blue colors and the splatters, and thought that would be perfect for these diner pictures.

I used some dark blue paint to back my title letters. I painted over the preprinted title, too, to change it from ''WAVES OF FUN'' to ''Tasty Fun". The beachy feel to the paper worked well with these photos, because this is our favorite diner in our summer vacation town.

Premade embellishments had to be used for the next project. This was my favorite challenge. I often look through my stash of stickers and think I should just use the whole collection on one page, but I've not done it yet..until now. Using a sticker pack as inspiration is a great  way to make a cute, well-constructed page while whitling down your stash.
I stamped a snowflake background and used some Creative Memories winter stickers for this wintery Niagara Falls page. Gracie and her friends went there every winter in high school!

I had to use something recycled next. I found some crumpled up pink tissue paper and used that as a photo mat.
These are more OLD pictures...this time, it's little Miranda (who is now fourteen!!) My cousin got her a creepy Boo Bah toy for her birthday years ago. I just recently acquired these photos when my cousin passed away.

And finally...i  did a "pile it up" challenge, combining the multiphoto and the premade embellishment challenges. I used some of these nautical wooden stickers on a Sea World page years ago, and hadn't touched them since. I used the rest on this page.
Here is Miranda last summer, quite grown up from the baby she is in the photos directly above! Not the greatest of pictures, but it was a nice summer day spent wandering around a lovely little port town, Alex Bay NY.

Thanks for looking!!

White with 1....Tangerine Tango!!

Tangerine Tango...what a cool name! I always wonder who gets to make up the names of paint colors. What a fun job that would be.

Anyway, here is my white with one featuring daughter #2 on her graduation day last spring! She is pictured here with one of her best friends, who was kind enough to dress in the tangerine color. Most of my grad pages are blue and white (the school colors), so this was refreshingly fun for me!

Thanks for a great challenge!

Use Your Stuff Challenge #221

Here is my take on sketch #221 at Use Your Stuff...

I used snowflakes in place of the strip of photos and the large heart. I had fun using snow-themed items, as I rarely take snowy pictures anymore. My oldest daughter and her college mates made Christmas photo cards to send to their relatives and friends...what a great idea!
