Mystical Scrapbooks---Dec 2015

My girls and I all like to spend time making things in the kitchen. It is not unheard of for them to suddenly decide to bake something! In these pictures, Holly and Grace found all the ingredients in Grandma's pantry to make a home made pumpkin pie, even though it was August.

This month at Mystical Scrapbooks, the challenge was to document something that makes you or your family members happy, and this is it!!

November at C'est Magnifique

I did the sketch challegne at C'est Magnifique

Here is the sketch...

My sister, Kerry, is a very talented photographer, and she took some lovely photos of Grace last year for her graduation. It is so much fun to scrapbook a beautiful photo!
I inked a square-shaped doily with black ink, and used a pink, black, white and sage color scheme. I was too lazy to get out the Cricut and cut a title, so while looking through my stash, I found a sticker sheet with the word "grace" on it. It was actually a dance-themed sticker sheet with only a few stickers left on it. Perfect! Two out of my three children have names that are actual words (Grace, Holly).
Makes things easy sometimes! I should have named Miranda Hope, or Faith or Angel.

I like how the page turned out, although the photo turned out faded. I really need to learn how to take good photos of my pages.

Not crazy about that photograph, but I can't seem to make it better. The lighting in my house is terrible.

Lime Spots at 123!!

Here's October's challenge at 123 Challenge blog

I did this page from a perfect day spent taking my darling daughters out for bubble tea at our favorite vacation tea shop.  I added some orange to contrast with the lime. I had this dotted lime paper forever, and it was nice to finally put it to good use!!

One hour.....

Another Freaking has a challenge to scrap a page, start to finish, in one hour. It is more challenging than you'd think, but very freeing at the same time. There's no time for perfection, tweaking, thinking, or over planning. I decided I will try this method on those photos I am not overly excited about scrapping... Like class pictures! I had just completed scrapbooking a bunch of old class pics and was not too inspired to do yet another such page.
Here, I used notebook paper, a border sticker, and added some doodling. All done!

Picture This!! Mid month challenge

Picture this mid month challenge:
2 pictures, a sunburst and buttons.

Here's my littlest daughter with two of her friends enjoying some ice cream...

Paper Issues sketch

Paper Issues has a facebook sketch up for the month, and here is my take

Prize is a gift card.

Paper Issues!

Paper Issues Linky Party has several prompts to choose from. I chose Fall colors and did this page using a very old picture of Gracie when she was young.

Winner gets 20 dollar gift card to Paper Issues.

 Yay! I was featured.....

Off the Rails scrapbooking has a really dramatic moodboard this month..

I was inspired by the wintery bleak feel of the photographs, and used red, gray, black on a white background.

The water dripping off my gutters one winter formed this unique chain on my back deck. It grew to about three feet high!

The winning prize is some chipboard from 2 Crafty Chipboard, which has some AMAZING stuff, but unfortunately for this American girl, they are based in Australia!! I love their website though, it is so inspirational.

Mystical Scrapbooks will not allow me to copy the color challenge image, so here is a link..

I used the bright navy, purple, pink and yellow in the form of solid paper, and the bright green in the ribbon. I was inspired by the bright pops of color against the wood of the trees and crates, so I used woodgrain brown paper as a background.

My daughter is a freshman in college. She and her roomies all bought the same shirt in different colors for a wonderful photo op. Love this picture!!

Mystical Scrapbook challenges for September

The second challenge : a photo containing 2 people, buttons and stars. For this I created a simple page, but it is one of my favorites of late. I love making overlays with the Artbooking Cartridge for the Cricut. A page with an overlay just automatically looks good.
This is a really cool photo of my daughter and her friend parasailing. I love the colors in the chute and tried to mimic that by placing small pieces of paper behind the open squares in the overlay.

Love it!!

...And as an addition to my previous post, here is my take on sketch 114

My Scraps and More Sketches for September

There are two sketches for September's My Scraps and More Sketches

And here is a picture of the loot we're playing for:

Lots of Halloween fun stuff.

Here are my pages:

#113 G+J

I used some sparkly paper for the background, lace ribbon for the criss-cross elements. My daughter and her boyfriend at Niagara Falls...

This just above layout was featured as a top 3 pick!!
I get a little blinkie...

My Scraps and More September challenges.

I did eleven pages for My Scraps and More September challenges.

My Scraps and More: Got Talent

In August, I did a bunch of challenges for My Scraps and More Got Talent. They were due begininng of September. They haven't updated with winners yet. Here are some more that I did..

Strike up the Band- challenge was to use a song lyric. I used Strike Up the Band, an old favorite from the Michael Stanley Band, a Cleveland area band from back in my high school days.

BOO!- I was challenged to use only ribbon and washi as a background. It's a little busy, but fun!
Why We Love Easter- a list challenge, which I like because it forces me to journal in a different manner than I normally would.

BUCS- Here we had to use items for each of the letter in Got Talent. I have Group photo, Overlay, Twine, Thickers, Labels, Epoxy Sticker, Three patterned papers, and EK Success and Am. Crafts rub ons.

EGGCELLENT- i had to create three different patterned papers. I used stamps, colored pencils and stencil to create my strips here.

A GREAT DAY- I made a pocket with plastic packaging. My photo to the left is encased, with sequins inside.

EASTER- I custom-made a title by painting and color-pencil outline.

My Scaps and More...Got Talent

Earlier in the week, I discovered this Got Talent event going on at My Scraps and More. I have already done five pages! This one is due tonight...

The challenge is to use three tecnhiques on the page. One must be a type of paint, one must be stamping, and the third can be whatever.

For this page, I used a stencil and paint for the orange dots. I used a very old rubber stamp in a scrolly pattern, with some gold ink to stamp a border. For my third technique, I made photo corners out of ribbon!!

Okay, off to try to upload it in time!!
Here is the link to the site...the challenges are due Sept. 13th and I am going to try and do as many as possible!! Summer is winding down for me, and I am finding more time to get crafty.

Fantabulous Cricut!! My first time...

I love my Cricut and use it often. I got the Cricut LITE Fast Food cartridge on sale a while ago, and this is my first time using it. I made a little drink to accent this page about my daughter's favorite summer treat...SLUSHIES!!

CSI Case File 168

What a fun case file!! I used all the colors on this page, which highlights a photo from my childhood.  I used stripes and grid paper, cursive font and balloons (made out of acrylic alphabet circles turned backwards, and old stash item). For testimony, I journaled about happy childhood memories...and used some of the inspiration words.  I also scattered the journaling in two spots.

Summer of Love!!!

The challenge at Creating with Paper and More...

It's a word challenge!!
One of these words, at least, must be used in the journaling.

I used this "Summer of Love" paper for a peace-themed layout about lunch at the Woodstock Cafe, a 60s themed sub shop in Vermilion Ohio. The paper alone evokes the feel of the cafe, I added some peace sign stickers, and chalked a wooden camera for a tie dyed look.

June challenge at Cocoa Daisy

The challenge was to scrapbook a not-so-great photo.
My subjects look miserable in this picture, even though we had a good time at my cousin's campaign kick-start event.

Sketch at C'est Magnifique, June..."2014"

the June Sketch at C'est Magnifique..

I scrapbooked a photostrip from my daughter's 2014 Senior Dinner Dance. The small little photos really need a big circle or something to anchor them and show them off, so I placed them on a doily and a large flower (cut in half). Pages come together so easily when using a sketch!

;Lobsta time at BiTTEN bY THE BUG

I have often perused BBTB over the years, but never did a challenge, until now. The lobster challenge was just too fun to pass up!
I am YEARS behind in schrapbboking. I used to go in order, but lately I have been somewhat hodge podge. I saw this challenge and remembered our summer vacation about nine years ago...My entire family went to Put In Bay in Ohio and had just the greatest day. We also had a damn good lunch and some awesome lobster bisque.
I used the FROM MY KITCHEN cartridge, one of my favorites. The lobster, bowl  and spoons, and titles are all from this cartridge.

Had so much fun taking on this challenge!

UPDATE: I won the weekly challenge for this one!!

Using my stamps...finally!

The challenge over at Berry71Bleu...

is stamping!! All you gotta do is use some stamps.

It has been SO LONG since I have done any stamping that most of my stamp pads were all fact, only the black ink pad was working for me. Oh well..gave me a chance to clean out some old supplies. What fun it has been to play with some long-forgotten things!

I used some old Martha Stewart Christmas stamps for both types of trees. Since I had no color pads, I inked on colored papers and cut them out, a look I really like. The title box is a new stamp I got from a Close To My Heart package I recieved. I never used any of these before. Thank you, Berry17, for making my stamp again.

may Artastic Challenge

This month features artwork by Sarah Beetson...
with the criteria to use stars.

I love the color and streakiness of the background, which inspired me to paint on my page. I also love the sprinkling of bright stars, so I sprinkled them on my page as well.

As a mother of three girls, I do not often get to do sporty, boyish pages. It was a blast working with this photo of my oldest daughter racing.
